WBRG is a new kind of financial literacy program.

We address the most important issue ➔ a student’s
motivation to learn.

And we do that by enlisting the single best business and finance teacher the world has ever seen: Warren Buffett.

While he doesn’t personally come to class, his terrific writings and speeches are the foundation of this program.

We have taken a selection of 40 years of shareholder letters and thousands of speeches and distilled into a course with a detailed curriculum that we have tested with more than 500 students over four years.

This program works for the students. They love it and leave wanting to learn more (and with some basic understanding of the right attitude and philosophy to use when thinking about money, finance, business, leadership, and ethics).

This program works for the volunteer faculty, who are experienced business executives and graduates of the Harvard Business School. They love working with and giving back to students (and most wish they had had access to this kind of program when they were in high school).

WBRG is offered in 3 ways

Public summer program

Any high school student in the world can sign up via this website; $199 with scholarships available (all the money goes into running the program, with all faculty donating their time).

1.

2.

High school/nonprofits

High schools or nonprofits that serve students eligible for Federal lunch programs can partner with WBRG to offer the program to their students at no charge (learn more).

3.

Sponsors

LPL Financial underwrites WBRG and enables us to offer this program free to high schools and nonprofits (while delivering it via their financial advisor network). Collaborative Gain underwrote the first four years of startup, testing, and development.

Most financial education classes are dull, dull, dull…

WBRG is exciting, inclusive, student-led, and most importantly, features the single best business/financial teacher in the world: Warren Buffett (and his partner Charlie Munger).

The Course

This is a fun, accessible summer program meant to help high school students learn they are capable of participating in the conversation about business. And it helps them become better, more motivated learners.

Self-motivation is the key to learning. When a student has their own desire to learn, then they can go far.

You can say our mission is to help students become, in the words of Warren Buffett, “learning machines” because that will open up all kinds of possibilities and help them achieve whatever dreams they might have.

Zoom-based Live Course

The program runs for six weeks total and is held on Zoom. Each class is run by an experienced Harvard MBA or equivalent business executive (see the faculty here). Each week students spend about 90 minutes in the classroom and about 3 hours doing homework. See the detailed curriculum.

Powered by Harvard MBAs

Our faculty is a team of graduates from the Harvard Business School and/or other experienced executives. We take the program seriously, but not ourselves! Many of us are parents, and all of us love working with and teaching young minds to think bigger and smarter.

Former students love the program. It changed how they see themselves, their level of motivation, and their interest and curiosity to learn more about business… and about everything else.

“Learning about finance opened my eyes to something new, interesting, and applicable to whatever I choose to do in life. I also met a lot of fun and interesting students from across the country in the process. I loved it.”

— Alexi S., Cal Tech

“As a senior in college, I’m finding what I learned as a senior in high school through WBRG to be really helpful. Buffett’s lessons still resonate – especially in thinking about how to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the companies I’m considering working for.”

— Hailey M., Harvard University

“The WBRG course was a great learning experience that not only taught me smart business and life advice but prepared me for my first year of college.”

— Luke S., Baylor University
